In 2023, UME Marylanders Online joined forces with Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) to address the unique digital equity challenges faced by individuals with low vision and blindness. This partnership resulted in a multi-month Talk Text Train virtual training series featuring assistive telecommunications vendors such as Hable, BlindShell, and RAZ Mobility. Nearly 30 blind or low-vision individuals completed the full series and became certified to teach others how to use accessible these digital devices effectively. This training series was designed to bring people together and foster meaningful conversations and skill-building around accessible technology. Learn more about the Talk Text and Train series.
